I had been writing several articles that gave a comprehensive introduction on how to invest in the Philippine stock market . Focus was given on the basic principles that each prospective investors should know. In this article the advantages of investing in the stock market will be given focus.

As I said mentioned previously, the stock market is just another vehicle of investment. You might be wondering what is the reason why you should invest in the stock market? Is there an advantage in investing in the stock market ?

The answer to such questions could be as follows. Note that the examples given refer to Philippine based companies and currency. Visit my blog if you want to view the entire article.

1.) Investing in the Stock Market has potential for great returns – Every financial expert would tell you that when the market has a potential to go up, it really goes up. Returns could range to as high as 30 % to 200 %+ per annum or even more. In the long term it is expected that you would really profit at lot. In 1997, the price of Globe Telecom Inc. (GLO) stocks was only P152.00 per share. Buying the minimum board lot which was 10 shares during that time would have only cost you about P 1,520.00. Now the price per share of Globe is P 1,620.00+. The value of those shares is right now P 16,200. That means in ten years time your money has grown times ten or a 1000 percent increase. It also means that you have a return of an average of 30 % per annum. Not bad compared to putting it in a time deposit account at less than 4 % per annum. You might also be interested to know that the Philippine stock market is at its highest these days. A bull run is still expected for the next 2 to 3 years. So hold on to your horses, I mean bulls and make the best out of the bull run.

2.) Investing in the stock market would make you “part owner” of the company that you are investing in. – Franchising a Jollibee outlet could cost you somewhere between 20 to 25 million pesos, not to mention the time and the effort you have to put in. Instead of franchising a Jollibee outlet in order to own your “own” Jollibee why not buy stocks of Jollibee instead ? For only P 5,000 + you get to own 100 JFC shares (Jollibee Foods Corporations – JFC) That means you indirectly own the more than 1414 stores in the Philippines and 175 in other countries not to mention Red Ribon, Chowking, Deli-France, A popular fastfood chain – Yonghe King in China and popular teahouse chain from Taiwan called Chun Shui Tang including Jollibee’s pilot restaurant “Tio Pepe’s Karinderia.” Isn’t that cool! You could proudly say to your friends and relatives the next time you eat at Jollibee that you like to eat there because you “own part of the company.” Perhaps owning stocks of PLDT or Globe will make you more prompt in paying your bills.

3.) Being part of a “Special group” -

When asked to join a multi-level marketing scheme, I always want to know when the company started. I ask this question because I believe that if it started a long time ago, my chances of recruiting other people will be lessened as most people that I know has already been recruited.

But investing in the stock market is not multi-level marketing. It does not matter whether the market is saturated or not. But it’s good to know that we are among the first to exploit the market’s potential.

Most of those who invest in the stock market are from the class A and B segments of the population. An Asian Development Bank study done in 2005 revealed that only 600,000, out of the of the country’s 87 million population, invest in the stock market. This means that only 0.7 % of the population are involved in stock market trading.

The Rice crises and rising oil prices has certainly affected all Filipinos regardless what bracket of society they come from. To help ease the burden of my fellow countrymen, I am coming up with some money saving tips, besides money saving tips is one of topics of my blog.

These are some money saving tips that I have experienced. I would like to share these to you.

1.) Go for bulk – Compare prices between small items and big items in your local grocery store and you will know what I mean. To cite an example, a 50 gram sachet of detergent powder appears to be more expensive per gram than 250 of grams detergent. What you can learn here is that the bigger the size, the cheaper it will get. This tells you that you will get more savings if you you buy in bulk. Remember never to buy small item repacks. If you can, buy in bigger quantities. This one one of the most important tips among all the money saving tips that you should bear in mind.

2.) Resort to industrial suppliers – Industries get cheaper supplies because they buy in bulk or they manufacture their own. What got me into this was the “buy in bulk” principle. I wanted to buy a sack of detergent, so I asked around because the groceries did not sell per sack. I found out that you can get cheap detergent from laundry shops. The price is relatively low since they are the ones that manufacture their own soap. The quality of the soap is more or less the same with that of commercial soap.

3.) Be conscious about who your supplier is – I talked a little bit about this money saving tip in my previous post. However that deals with not buying in a convenience store. In this money saving tip, the point I am driving is that you choose which store you could find a cheaper price for a certain type of need.

As an illustration, you will notice that vegetables and meat products are much more cheaper in the wet market than in grocery stores. The reason for such is because the wet markets buy directly from the farmers and the fishermen. That is why you should buy these type of products from the wet markets. Since dry goods, canned foods and other items are cheaper in the grocery stores you should buy them there. Grocery stores certainly offers much more lower prices for these items since they buy directly from the manufacturers in wholesale.

This is part 2 of the four part series on the discussion of principles of investment in the stock market. In the first part, the first principle involved realizing that the stock market is just another investment vehicles and that before you start investing in the stock market, you must realize that there are other vehicles of investments. We continue by discussing the next two principles. If you wish to view the entire article, please visit my blog.

2.) A roller coaster ride – It could be said that the biggest advantage in investing in the stock market is the huge profits that are made when the market goes up. However this is also conversely true because huge losses can also be made when the market goes down.

The general strategy is to sell when the market is up and to buy when the market goes down. About two years ago when I started investing, the Philippine Stock exchange index was only about 2000 + points. I’ve seen it go up to 2500 points and slide back to the 2000 level in the middle of 2006. It slowly and steadily climbed up to the 3200 level in the 1st quarter of 2007 and dropped in a very short period of time during the last days of the 1st quarter of 2007. It climbed steadily to a high of 3700+ points in July 2007 but slid back below 3000 points a month after. By October 2007 it climbed steadily to its highest at 3800+ points. A month after it dropped to 3600+ points.

There is only one conclusion that can be drawn here, that is it is really a roller coaster ride. Huge Profits and losses are made during those times that the market is up or down.

3.) You should determine what type of investor you are – Are you a long term investor or a short term investor? This is a very important question that each serious new investor should consider. This affects whether you should buy or sell a certain stock.

Take note that If you are a long term investor, this means means that you hold your stocks from 5 to 10 years or more. This actually means that you believe in the company that you are investing in. Since you are putting in your money for a long period of time, you must be certain that such money you put in is considered already as extra.

One of the main benefits of being long term investors is that you do not have to worry about monitoring the day to day technical analysis. There is no problem if the stock is held for a long period of time since what is considered is the strong fundamentals of the company. On the other hand, short term investor, who decide to cash in within a months time to 6 months time, will have to monitor the day to day market activities to ensure that they are making a profit.

Short term investors have also to consider if they can afford to put in their money for a long period of time however the time element is not as long as that of the long term investor. This is so because during the short period wherein you buy and sell stocks, you might incur losses during this time so you may decide to wait longer a little bit more.

Most of the stocks I hold are considered as medium and long term investments. This is because when I started out I determined to be more of a long term investor. There are stocks that I hold that I consider as short term investments. However majority of the stocks that I hold are considered as medium to long term investments.

This is part three on our discussion about the basic principles of investing in the stock market. Previously, the first three principles of investment was discussed. The first principle given was that you must realize that the stock market is just another vehicle of investment. The second principle dealt with realizing that investing in the stock market is a roller coaster ride. The third principle talks about determining what type of investor you are. In this article the next 4 principles will be discussed. Please visit my blog should you wish to view the entire article.

4.) While investing in the stock market does not take a lot of cash however having lots of it will obviously have an impact on how much you earn. – It is true that you don’t need hundreds of thousands of pesos or millions to invest in the Philippine Stock market. For me personally you only need about P 20,000.00 to start trading. This was the initial amount I began with. You don’t exactly need P 20,000.00, you can even start trading if you have P 10,000.00. But personally, I believe that is too small an amount. To show you what I mean let me cite Jollibee (JFC), one of my favorite stocks as an example. Jollibee shares cost only 51.50 per share as of today. In order to invest in a stock you need to purchase a minimum number of shares which is called the board lot. The board lot for Jollibee is 100. If you do the math you will only need P 5,150.00 (51.50 x 100) to be a stock holder of Jollibee Food Corporation. Let us presume that a year after you purchased the stock it climbed to P 100.00 per share. This means that you have gained P 5,000.00 more. However if you had invested 200 shares you could have gained much more.

5.) The key to growing your investment is consistency – Don’t be contented to stay small. Aim high ! Aim to play with the big players. You must have the discipline to slowly but consistently invest a part of your income to the stock market. By doing this your portfolio will grow since you have more capital to invest. I did not just stop at P 20,000.00, I slowly added to my investment. Consistent investment is a good habit to develop.

6.) Maximizing profit at the least possible losses. – Every time you see that the price of your stock went down, relax, the loss is only on paper. Actual loss is only attained when you sell your stock at the “losing” price. Therefore never sell at a loss. It should be emphasized that the money that you put into the stock market should not be taken from your emergency fund. It should by “surplus money.” Putting in your emergency savings will result in you selling your stocks at a loss if you need the money badly. The gains you received in the stock market such as sales from stocks and dividends should be utilized to purchase more stocks to maximize your profits.

7.) The stock market is not a get rich quick scheme – In all investments always take note of the principle that money takes time to grow. Those Investments that give you very high rate of return in a very short period of time are most likely investments that make other people rich, not you. Most likely it will take several months or even years in order for you to really profit in the stock market, especially in the Philippine stock market. There are times that it will just take weeks or days to really make a killing. However these are rare occasions. This usually occurs in cases like when there is a consistent bull run or that there is an unusual drop or climb of prices in a short length of time for various reasons.

The FAP Turbo has rapidly established itself as one of the most profitable and sought after forex trading robots on the market. People are no doubt attracted to the thought of simply plugging in a a Forex Robot and watching their account grow as they sleep. It all sounds really easy and the most effortless way of making money there is available. Like everything else though, the truth is always more complex than that which first meets the eye. Whilst you might strike it lucky and go straight into profit, it is likely that without some market experience and knowledge of tuning Forex Robots you will lose money. Lately the market conditions have changed greatly meaning that few if any automated trading systems function with the same effectiveness. They need to be “tuned” to function in the prevailing market conditions.

Choosing the right broker is also of paramount importance. Despite what you might read, not all forex brokers are the same. Brokers may well hold the key to whether or not your trading is profitable or not. They can and do manipulate the price and data feed and this is how they can effect the operation of your robot. Actual first hand and volumes of anecdotal evidence has told me that these types of broker “tricks” are widespread and far reaching. You need to choose which broker you trade with wisely if you wish to become a profitable trader.

Often when testing robots I would witness the same robot make a profit with one broker only to be losing or making a considerably smaller profit on another. In the past I have experienced first hand brokers who either refuse the use of FAP Turbo through their brokerage or place all the FAP Turbo traders on a different trading server with altered trading conditions. When brokers start to take notice of a particular Forex Robot, it is probably a good indication that it is profitable.

But the question is of course how do you know which brokers to use and which ones to avoid? Well of course there is the old trial and error method. This works eventually after you have wasted months of your valuable time testing or you could perhaps visit some of the many active forex forums and get some advice from those with more experience than yourself and hope that perhaps their experiences will help you avoid the same pitfalls that they themselves had to endure before they eventually found a suitable broker, gave up trying or simply wiped out 2 or 3 brokerage accounts in the process.

As Forex Robots get more complex, so does the process of tuning them to best suit the market conditions relevant at the time. Changing the robots myriad of settings can radically effect the way the robot trades and ultimately decide if you make a profit or not. Demo trading can assist in the tuning process but of course demo trading can only try and emulate actual market conditions and trade execution. Small variations in either of these really can have a dramatic effect on the profitability of a robot, especially those that take a relatively small profit per trade such as the FAP Turbo.

Optimizing the settings for FAP Turbo can be a time consuming and somewhat frustrating task as you really need to be forward testing the robot, as experience as shown that while back testing can give you some indication of relative profitability ultimately of course it largely depends on the quality of your price data and can not factor in such things as the quality and speed of your brokers trade execution. Whatever you have read on forums, back testing is very limited in its scope and accuracy and can therefore only give you a very broad indication of whether your settings will prove to be profitable. To bypass this task you also have the option of using The FAP Turbo Expert Guide. The FAP Turbo Expert Guide was written to cater for forex traders of all levels of experience so that all readers can get the most out of it. It was written by Rob Casey who is suitably qualified to be an expert in his field of developing and tuning forex automated trading robots. The guide gives you all the information you need to easily optimize your FAP Turbo robot and start trading profitably.

In recent times we have also seen some major overhauls on the regulatory front, particularly with the NFA (National Futures Association) in the United States. This has had a fairly dramatic effect on the retail forex industry globally. The repercussion are still being felt at this very moment, as many of the larger players in retail forex have shifted their operations offshore to the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Unless you have been living in a cave that does not have WiFi internet access you will be aware that we have or are still enduring a global financial crisis and perhaps you or someone you know are experiencing the nasty effects of its impact on the world’s economy. The crisis along with the poor performance in both the equities and the bond market, has meant there has been an exponential increase in the demand for other non-traditional types of managed investment services. Forex for instance, has gained rapid acceptance as a new asset class but was once only available to large banking institutions and professional inter-bank currency traders. It is now increasingly being utilized by small investors seeking to benefit from the potentially lucrative forex market.

On the other hand, funds where client funds are aggregated into a pool, and where the funds are controlled by the trader themselves don’t offer this type of protection to clients. Registered brokers operating in a regulated jurisdiction are subject to rigid and substantial minimum capital requirements and regular audits on all financial records and client funds.

Managed forex accounts are a great solution for those people who find they do not have the time or necessary skills to trade the forex market. This alternative allows investors to benefit from the opportunities available in the forex market. However, experience has shown us that many investors are exposed to the darker side of managed investments, such as trader incompetence and less than scrupulous forex brokers.

Managed Forex Accounts also give people of relatively modest means the ability to access to the potentially profitable returns made available by the Forex market. Factors such as virtually unlimited liquidity, volatility and leverage add up to make forex a suitable investment type for those with reasonable small amounts of capital and a reasonable risk tolerance to enjoy higher than average returns. As usual it needs to be stressed that with increased ROI comes an increase in risk. Of course no form of investment comes without exposure to some form of risk. Managing this risk is the principal task of the money manager.

Managed Forex Accounts give people access to the unique opportunities made available by the Forex market. Factors such as liquidity, high volatility and leverage combine to make forex a suitably advantageous investment vehicle for those with risk capital and the desire to seek higher than average return on their investment. Of course it always needs to be stated that with these increased returns inevitability comes with increased in risk. Managing this increased risk is the key task for the money manager.

The principal purpose of any managed forex account is to achieve sustainable high, long term results, with a minimum amount of draw down and a demonstrable long term record. Search for an investment provider who can prov these attributes over an extended period of time. Three to 6 months of trading statements is simply insufficient to make an informed opinion on the longer term prospects of a managed investment offering.

A shelter from the elements is one of the most important necessities that we need for everyday living. Unfortunately not all of us have the luxury of buying a HUGE mansion. Mortgage is one of the bills that we have to pay. But we often forget them amidst the stack of credit card bills that come in the mail. Home foreclosure is one of the most common problems. Most of us have to pay our debts to live.

Get a home equity line of credit

A home equity line of credit is a type of loan where the house is used as collateral. Most banks offer great options for customers. This can delay or prevent a foreclosure from happening by having it as a back up.Then should you need it, you will have the money you need if other emergencies arise.

Don’t miss and skip

This may seem like a simple thing but it’s the one most often taken for granted. Once you miss one payment it will be easier for you to miss the rest. Lenders also have acceleration clauses wherein they can demand that the customers pay every payment that they’ve missed all at once. Your credit will also take most of the injury and may prevent you from getting a loan in the future.

Know who to pay

Bills, bills, bills….all due at the end of the month. You should set your priorities straight and ask yourself: which do I want to loose, my house or my credit card?

Also make sure your mortgage lender has not sold your loan to another company. This happens all the time. the end result is you sending your hard earned money to the wrong bank…and missing the first payment to the new bank holding your mortgage. CHECK THE ADDRESS!!

Do not run away

Don’t ignore the letters/calls from your lender or bank. It doesn’t hurt to respond once in a while. Failure to check your mail will not be taken as an excuse in court. Always check your mail box.

Don’t get yourself stuck

Banks would rather have their clients to believe that they don’t have options once they demand to accelerate the payments. THIS IS FALSE!!! You do have options, there are several options for foreclosure prevention that canyou use especially if you take time to look.

Feed your piggy bank

Prioritize your needs and always keep extra cash handy. The money we spend on credit cards by buying expensive electronics, clothes and jewelry can add up to more that you expected. Most of these little shopping sprees go unchecked and can use up all your savings.

In the event that some of your debt is in assets such as a car or your house, take a look at them and see if getting rid of them might help out for the time being. Selling a vehicle, even at a loss, cuts out an expense and helps you get rid of your debt that much quicker.

Things don’t get much worse in life than having to deal with serious personal physical disabilities and being told that no public support could be forthcoming unless you are willing to jump through a bunch of hoops right out of a Kafka novel. The word on the street is that the process is so hard that two out of three poor people applying for Social Security disability benefits have their claims thrown out the first time around owing to some perceived deficiency in their applications. When people appeal the denial, they can be given the run-around for two or three years before they see some money. The main problem in all of this is that governmental requirements are never clear enough for ordinary folk. A system that is quite user-unfriendly is turned positively hostile by a lack of any accessible information on how to work the system. Let us do a little run down of some of the most common areas where people slip up when applying for Social Security disability benefits.

The first thing the pencil pushers will evaluate on your form is whether your particular disability actually appears on their list of approved problems; if it is there, because they do not believe that every problem is good enough for them, they need to see that you are so hobbled by it that you’re not able to make more than $940 a month for at least an year. After this they will want proof that you really can’t do anything else with your existing condition. If you have worked on a farm all your life until an accident lays you low, they will wonder why you can’t work the mail desk at a corporation; and it won’t be enough that you are in no position at this time to learn new skills.

People can do one of two things when they put their problem down on the form: they can make it sound worse than it actually is, or they can be too modest. Sometimes, people who have always been a strong rock to their families find it hard to admit in writing that they are not so strong anymore: their pride gets in the way. There are some people who believe that saying it worse than it really is or can put them quickly past the judges too. If you claim to have lost your hearing for example, they will sometimes ask to see your hearing aid to see how loud you have turned the volume up. It is not easy to make an embellishment hold up;the plain truth is the best policy sometimes.

When you go about applying for Social Security disability benefits, the evaluator really needs to see that your problem keeps you from working effectively. They need numbers, specifics, and proof: if you had surgery on the larynx that makes it hard for you to speak in a clear voice and your job as a data-entry operator does not need your voice, they will not accept this disability for a claim. Applications for Social Security disability benefits are often rejected, and that is a fact. But to poor beleaguered applicants, it is often never clear how and when they need to appeal the rejection. Basically when your claim is rejected, you’re given three chances to appeal against the judgment; and each time, you have two months in which to try again. If you happen to be too ill or too poor to go all the way down to their offices, your case is summarily closed and you’re asked to start all over again.

All applicants for social security disability benefits need to resolve today that they will never let the system get the better of them. When you show up at the hearing for the appeals process you’ll find that there is a backlog waiting to be heard before you. It can be very hard to overcome your problems and actually keep to the judge’s times. The important thing is to realize that what you obtain from the government is not a handout: it is what you earned through a lifetime of good hard work. If you give up on the process now, you’ll have considerable difficulty with other kinds of social support, Medicare and all. Armed with these words of advice, most people should be able to get off on the right foot claiming benefits.

When you make a decision to attend a college in order to achieve a college credential, you’re making an extremely important decision. Here are a few things to consider when looking for financial aid for college.

Determining where you want to go in life and how much you want to earn on a regular basis has a lot to do with your career choice. Remember that when you earn a college degree, this is going to cost an enormous amount of money.

Obtaining financial aid can be a treacherous path unless you know exactly where you’re going and you have determined what you need. There are a few student aid options available which you should primarily focus on.

First of all, the definition of financial aid is the money that is available to help students pay for the cost of attending university of their choice. Depending upon the type of financing that you obtain, it can make a difference after you have left college.

One of the better types of financial aid to receive is called the program. It is typically used by first and second-year students to obtain their associates degree but can extend toward additional years of college. The amount of money is limited to around $5000 recently increased by the federal stimulus package and is enough to help pay for most community college fees.

You should also consider the possibility of taking out a student loan if you need one. Stafford loan provides a very low interest rates on the amount of tomorrow. Unlike a grants, loans must be repaid and repayments will begin nine months after you have left college.

Finally, if you can get some kind of scholarship to help you pay for college, this is also a free form of funding for your college fees. Although you must provide a progress report to some private institutions offering this type of funding, it is well worth the effort since this money never has to be repaid.

Sometimes preparation can be the key to obtaining enough financial aid to go back to school. By knowing how much you actually have to expenses to look forward to, you can make it more educated guess on the amount that you need to have or borrow to complete your college education.
